Welcome to the website for the Sequoyah Hiking Club. The Sequoyah Hiking club plans short hikes often in the middle of the week to areas around Madisonville, TN in the southern section of the Cherokee National Forest or in the Smokies. Most hikes are less than 5 miles in length and are usually labeled as easy to moderate in difficulty. Most commonly, the hikes occur on a Wednesday or another weekday, and not usually on the weekend. This is an ideal hiking club for those who want to explore the area of the Southern Segment of the Cherokee National Forest and the Smokies, who is available on weekdays, and who prefers relatively short hikes. If you prefer longer hikes which occur mostly on the weekend, you should check out the Cherokee Hiking Club, www.cherokeehikingclub.org.
The club meets the fourth Monday of each month for dinner at 6PM at Bert's Restaurant in Madisonville, with the planning meeting to follow at 7PM. The club plans activities for no more than a month or two in advance, so check this web page frequently if you wish to join the club on their hikes. With the hike is a name and phone contact. Please let that person know in advance of your desire to come on the hike. Contact Johanna Cooley for further information at 423-442-3643
